2021 Fulfilment and 2nd Edition Update

G'day all, I just wanted to send out a quick update for everyone with how book postage is going :)

USA & Canada

• Books are on their way, with many having already arrived.

Australia & New Zealand

• A small number have already been sent out, with the rest going out over the nest week and a half via Australia Post.
• If you have a change of address PLEASE send me a private message about this ASAP!!

UK, EU and the Rest of the World

• Books are safely sitting in my UK warehouse.
• Unfortunately Brexit has made UK-EU postage very difficult and is slowing all postage from the UK down to a crawl.
• My warehouse has instructions to send out the UK and RoW orders ASAP while we figure out the EU ones... but I get the feeling that things will still take a while :(
• Once the books are sent out they should take very little time to arrive, but I can't say when this will be at this time.

Fragged Empire 2nd Edition

With 2020 behind us and book fulfilment on track (except for the EU delays) I'm now putting my full attention in Fragged Empire 2nd Edition.

•  I hope to Kickstart this in the 2nd half of the year. Be sure to sign up for my mailing list to receive a reminder email (I ONLY use this mailing list for announcing Kickstarter), and/or follow my Kickstarter profile.
•  The current plan is to release two 200ish page books; a Core Rule Book and a Core Lore book, along with an adventure called "And there was Cake!" I want to have all of these books as finished as possible before the launch of the Kickstarter so that I can focus on polish and developing additional supporting PDF supplements.
•  FE2 will be compatible with all non-Empire settings (Kingdom, Aeternum, etc...), and with the FE: Mishpacha region book that was a part of this Kickstarter.
•  Guiding Ideas: Just like FE1, FE2 will have a strong focus on visuals, culture, combat and downtime. But FE2 will be expanding lore/rules for exploration, give much more PC/GM guidance and will be trimming the fat from the rules.
•  Lore: I'm cleaning up and expanding the lore (ie: more information on the Archon empire, Jump Drives/Dust, more maps, etc...), will not be pushing the timeline forward (as I still want the future to be an unknown that you explore in your own games), and all 8 species will be in the Core Lore Book (along with an introduction to the Mechonids, Oni, Echoes, feral Nephilim and Faren). There will also be 3 fleshed out star systems linked by jump gates; Haven, Kasuf and Var.

•  Rules: IMO the rules have been massively improved in everyway; as they are simultaneously more intuitive and accessible, while also offering improved tactical and meaningful options. A sizeable GM guide section will be included in the CRB, along with advice on how to run different kinds of campaigns (from survival horror -> space marines -> exploration). A Munitions system will be included in the rules, and will work a little like Momentum from Fragged Kingdom/Aeternum/Seas.
•  Development Status: The rules are done (but being endlessly polished and playtested), the lore/art is mostly done (though some of the art will not be finished until 2022, as I don't want to rush my tight art team), but the graphic design still needs a LOT of work (and I want to work on that towards the end of the project).

Books are printed, Shipping Dates, Fragged Cyberpunk

G'day all, I have some great news :) The books have been printed and will be shipped off from my factory within the next week. As the books will be arriving in my warehouses around Christmas things may slow down. My hope is to have the books sent out to everyone in late December and early January.

If you need to change your postage address, please let me know ASAP!!!!!

Book Printing, Covid, 2nd Edition

G’day all!

The books are currently being printed, yay! The printer has just sent me the proof prints for my approval. Printing will still take a little while, and then we will need to at least 6 weeks for shipping to our warehouses for fulfillment.

Covid

The current pandemic has really messed things around for most of us, and here in Melbourne Australia we have experienced one of the world’s longest and strictest lockdowns (about 5 months). While I’ve been blessed to be able to continue my work from home, and I have my lovely wife for company, it has taken its toll on the business and myself.

• As I run a very tight business (and the government here has been generous with financial aid) we are economically secure (so no worries on that end!).
• The delays in printing the books, loss of conventions, and the Core Rule Book going out of print has resulted in a drastically reduction of my current print run (so the books you will receive will be VERY rare in the near future).

• Hanging out with the Fragged community on our Discord page during this time has been particularly great!

Lockdown has forced me to learn Roll20, which has been an absolute blast! I’ve even being running fortnightly One-Shot games for people (have been doing AU/EU time zones, but I hope to do some USA time zones in the near future).

Fragged Empire 2nd Edition

Work on the new FE2 Lore and Rule books are coming along well. These are large and important projects, so I’m being careful to not rush them and to playtest as much as I can (a special thanks to everyone in the Fragged community who has been helping with playtesting!!). I'm getting rather excited for this project, and I think it will (in my biased opinion) be the best medium-crunch sci-fi game on the market.

• The Mishpacha guide book from this Kickstarter will be compatible with FE2, as will Aeternum/Kingdom/etc...
• Please send me a private message if you would like to join the playtest.
• I 'hope' to run the Kickstarter next year. But I want to have both of the primary books all done (except for the art) before I launch.

SUPER short update just to get the ball rolling on the printing of these books :)

• I have talked to my distributors and things are ready to move forward, I just need to finalize my Backer Data.
• As its been a long time I know some people may have moved address or may wish to increase their order with a new Add On. >> Please send me a 'private message' with any updates that you need to make to your order << As BackerKit is locked down I will need to manually make those changes on your behalf.
• At the end of this week I will be finalizing all of the printing and shipping details, so you MUST let me know if anything has changed for you ASAP.
• Once I've got all of the data and orders locked down I will post up a giant Kickstarter Update for people, on this project and Fragged Empire 2nd Edition.
• Also, the Mishpacha book's lore and rules will be compatible with Fragged Empire 2nd Edition.
• I'm super sorry about the delays with this project. As a one-man company this C-19 stuff really knocked things around for me.

Important Update on all things Fragged!!!! - PDFs, Printing, 2nd Edition, live hangout in 1 hour.

G'day all.

Thanks so much for your patience over these past few months, this project has proven to be far more difficult than expected. But the good news is, the PDFs have all been sent out (and I hope you have been enjoying the early access Aeternum and Kingdom PDFs that I sent out late last year)! If you have not yet received your PDFs (or if you have any other problems) then please send me a private message. PDFs will also be made public 2 at a time over this coming week.

Unfortunately, printing in China and posting parcels around the globe has gotten a little tricky in the past months due to C-19 (ie: Australia is on hard lockdown at the moment). For this reason I must put a pause on all of my current printing plans until further notice. While I'm confident that production will go at a nice pace once we're ready, I can't say when this will be (maybe not until later this year... or possibly even next year).

But not all blame for this delay rests on C-19 as the original plan was to have the books at the printers by January. Unexpectedly the development of these 3 books has been the most difficult project that I have ever worked on (even harder than my very first Kickstarter) and my brain and emotions crashed hard in late December last year due to pushing myself non-stop for so long. These health issues combined with building up the Fragged writing/art team (we have brought on so many great people!) and the ambitiousness of the project, was a recipe for difficult growth. I thank you sooooo much for your kind patience, we really do have a great community here.

I post several times a week and I personally answer every private message that I receive. I love to share what I'm working on and talk to people, and the Discord channel is particularly active :D

The Future

Ok, so with the PDFs out and printing on pause... what they hell am I working on? Fragged Empire 2nd Edition!!!!

For 5+ years I've been keeping notes about what I would like to improve with FE 2nd Edition, and I have learned a lot from the creation of 4 non-Sci-Fi rule adaptions. But it wasn't until a couple of months back that I finally broke the damn holding back my flood of thoughts on this topic. For those of you who have been paying careful attention (or who have been on our Discord channel) you may have seen this coming.

When will it be out, and what will it look like?

•  Timeline: Nothing is locked down as I want it to be darn near perfect before I launch a Kickstarter... I have plans for this to be the best Sci-Fi RPG that it can possibly be.
• I hope to enter the play-testing phase within a couple of months. Community help with this will be vital.
•  Rule Changes: Firstly, FE2 will be compatible with the alternate Fragged settings (ie: Aeternum and Kingdom), maybe with a small 1 page PDF to explain the very minor differences. The Lore within the PA, AA and Mishpacha will also be compatible, and rules from all 3 FE expansion books will be (mostly) rolled into the core FE2 book (ie: all 8 races will be there).
• The rules will be drastically cleaned up and are currently looking to end somewhere between Aeternum and Kingdom in terms of crunch.
• The Momentum, Suspense and Arcane Skill Roll systems will all be moved into FE. But the Clips, Ammo, RoF and some of the fat around Trade Goods and Research will be stripped away.
• There will also be a MUCH larger GM guide section.
•  Lore Changes: I love the Fragged lore, but there are a few things that I would like to change/expand/clarify.
• Firstly, I want there to be more than just the Haven system... I'm thinking about bringing the Var system (ie: the Corp home system) into the primary lore, along with a new wild system (great for exploration)... all linked by Jump Gates.
• Secondly, I want to include a lot more information on the Archons and their empire (ie: factions, national borders, economics, etc...).
• Thirdly, I want to spend a lot more time expanding and developing the lore around communication and transportation technologies. I'm thinking about making Jump Drives rarer and inserting Jump Gates, space trains and a few more alternate harder-science forms of space travel.
• I have not yet decided if the Protagonist Archive races will be in the Core Lore Book... I suspect there wont be enough room, but they will be mentioned and presumed to be a part of the setting, just not talked about in detail (but their rules will be there).

I'm currently in my all time favorite stage of working on a project... the very start where I get to think up lots of cool ideas and everything is possible. But as you can see by my loose language and the many contrasting WIP images, we're in the very early stages of this project.
